Traceability is only ever tested when it matters, and by then the exercise is timed. Working out where a lot went and what went into it means walking several systems and a filing cabinet, and the honest answer to whether the trace was complete is usually that nobody can be certain.

The point is not speed for its own sake. It is that the trace is reproducible, so a mock recall measures your process rather than your filing.
